I don’t know what’s going on these days, but someone is handing out crazy pills in the UFC. First, we have James Toney calling out just about everyone, and then we have Anderson Silva trying to justify his shenanigans in the cage. Now, Randy Couture is sipping the kool-aid when it comes to the light heavyweight championship belt.
On MMAweekly Radio, Randy Couture explained what he expects from the outcome of the Lyoto Machida/Shogun Rua title rematch at UFC 113.
“I think within the next six months I’d like to be in line to fight the winner of the Machida/Shogun fight,.” “I’m going to be in Montreal to watch that fight very attentively. I think it’s going to be a great fight.”
Let’s give this a look at his last few fights and see how crazy Randy really is.
Vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira – Loss. Decision. Meh.
Vs. Brandon Vera – Win. Questionable decision. Did not dominate. Boring fight.
Vs. Mark Coleman – Win. Did Not Dominate, but ended in submission. Coleman on last legs. Golf clap.
Vs. James Toney – Booked for UFC 118. Do people even care about this as a legit match-up?
That track record doesn’t exactly scream #1 contender to me, even if he get’s past James Toney (No ground game, no takedown defense, no leg kicks). Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans are set to fight at UFC 114, so with a win Rampage should be the likely next title contender.
What do you think – Does Randy have a point, or is he just drinking the Kool-Aid?

Give the old man a shot! Don’t sit there and tell me you would give him no chance to win, which is scary. It would look pretty bad for the UFC that a 46 yr man can still win a belt IMO.
