THQ Unveils New Features for 2010 UFC Undisputed

For all those gamers and UFC fans that wanted new features for UFC Undisputed, then it’s time to rejoice.  THQ released three new features for the 2010 game, which is set to release in May. The current version available in stores has already sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide, which should be eclipsed by the new version. The 2009 VGA “Best Individual Sports Game” award winner will now have:

Developers will update moves for its Sway and Posture Systems to help with dodging standing strikes and deliver stronger attacks from varying positions.

Online, players will be able to form fight camps and leagues as well as train with human opponents to prepare for online matches for fights in Career Mode.

During Career Mode, the game will track each player’s action and use data for in-fight commentary and opponent intelligence.

The trio of new game modes include a straightforward Title Mode, Title Defense Mode and Tournament Mode, where players can create 16-fighter or team tournaments.

Submission animations improved and submission defense moving away from “button mashing.”

No more arch types for fighters. Instead they will have “signature moves.”

THQ has increased the number of strikes available. In fact they have quadrupled them and re-did the combo system by introducing “sways”

Improvements to ground-and-pound. Fighters are now in danger of being “rocked” from any position. THQ has added new “sub-positions.”

More on the “fight camps” feature, from game producer, Neven Dravinsk:

This is something we’ll talk about more in-depth in the coming weeks, but the advent of Fight Camps is this really cool concept that online you can create these clans/guilds, and you’ll be able to fight with your buddies online, you’ll be able to fight other camps online, and there are leaderboards associated with that as well. I think this is really going to help expand the community even further. How cool would it be to actually fight against [Greg] Jackson’s camp online? I think there are going to be a lot of really cool things that come out of the Fight Camp system.

In addition to all these new changes, the company already released news about new submissions (Anaconda chokes, Belly down armbars), switching stances, and head movement.  However, the rival game from EA sports already announced PRIDE FC Rules (foot stomps and soccer kicks) and DREAM rules for their gaming platform. Expect more changes to be made as we get closer to the release date, from both companies.

Who will win the gaming battle for 2010?
